From what I remember you can't cobtrol that on the D It's a menu option on the D Firstly - does Vista detect your camera at all? It should appear in My Computer as a Imaging device or appear in Device manager.

My D was not recognised until i upgraded. Maybe un-install and re-install r2. After hours of searching and reading hints about PTP settings and possible driver issues, it turns out I just needed to upgrade CCP2 to the latest version and then everything was fine. The camera was recognized right away by Nikon camera control pro 2 no camera was detected free and then you can start using Live View from the feee and your pictures save straight to your hard drive instead of the chip in the camera.
